In our practice over the past years, lighting design has transcended mere illumination; it’s been our medium for conversing with the world through light. The nocturnal environment we aspire to create embodies poetic existence, where meticulously placed LED strip lights and other fixtures remain imperceptible within specific usage scenarios, yet orchestrate everything to feel perfectly attuned.
Whether observing, walking, reaching, or conversing, the intertwining of various activities should evoke innate comfort. We eschew aggressive brightness to grab attention, instead seeking expression through the illuminated objects themselves. Integrated LED strip lighting becomes an invisible tool to reveal materiality and form, ensuring every illuminated element offers a distinct nocturnal interpretation – a deliberate counterpoint to its daytime identity.
The Chongqing Jiahe Mansion Showcase Area is situated in the Guanyinqiao district of Chongqing, capitalizing on the city’s characteristic sloping terrain. Its architecture is unique, employing layered stacking of diverse materials to create a powerful sense of flow. Precisely calibrated LED strip lights trace these layered contours, transforming material junctions into luminous seams.
The lighting design tightly embraces this architectural language, emphasizing the flowing forms of the facade. Light originates from the central main entrance, guided by recessed LED strip lights that transition luminosity naturally towards both sides. This approach forms vivid depth and layered visual effects while maintaining the purity of the architectural gesture.
Entrance Area

The texture of the ceiling aluminum panels differs in reflectivity from the soft porcelain tile surfaces. Light cast upon them creates an intriguing interplay of reflections. Fixtures at the base are installed according to conditions: waterproof uplights face upwards on the pool side, while high-power recessed linear LED strip lighting washes the walls on the corridor side. The naturally formed light textures from these two lighting methods rhythmically harmonize with the soft porcelain surfaces.
-
The wavy soft porcelain walls on both sides are evenly illuminated by LED strip lights, clearly revealing their form and texture.
-
A strict brightness ratio of over 1:3 is maintained between the exterior facade and the interior, ensuring clear visibility of the entrance signage while effectively guiding visitors’ gaze indoors through light and shadow contrast.
-
Precisely following the staggered lines of the curtain wall and the properties of different materials, light sculpts the direction of material flow. The linear LED strips clearly extend the rhythmic beauty of the lighting language, significantly enhancing the visual impact of the entrance facade.
Architecture & Landscape
-
The interplay of light and shadow between landscape and architecture is the soul of the design. The northern water feature and the canopy above form a visual highlight connecting the courtyard and the interior.

-
Special attention was paid to the two sculptural trees within the pool. During the initial design phase, we merged the architectural and landscape models for multiple lighting simulation calculations to ensure the effect remained within design control. Through meticulous on-site dimming, the foliage, illuminated at night, casts dappled, dynamic shadows onto the canopy, creating a serene and profound courtyard atmosphere.
Landscape Courtyard
-
The facade lighting of the curved pavilion is meticulously designed. Linear LED strips outline its form, and their light combines artfully with the shadows of the courtyard trees. At night, it not only provides clear and safe guidance for movement but also composes a rhythmic tableau of light and shadow, greatly enhancing the nighttime experience and artistic ambiance of the courtyard.

Exceptional lighting design stems from a profound interpretation of the landscape and structures. It aims to provide appropriate illumination levels and brightness ratios for the environment. While fulfilling basic functional needs, its greater purpose is to elevate the overall quality of the project and the living experience – this is the ultimate goal of our design. The core value of design lies in researching how to subtly and gracefully improve our lives through the care of light and shadow.
